Ok so yesterday I looked at it from the stressed parents perspective, now what I am hoping for when I'm on the other side of the table:

1. Parents make the appointments for parents well in advance so there is a clear schedule.
2. Parents book themselves in as early as possible so that if I'm not booked solid I can make a quick gettaway.
3. Parents have a clear list of tutors and subjects to refer to.
4. Parents sit, listen and then nod or shake their heads in the appropriate places, affirm what I've said and then turn to student sitting next to them to reinforce targets I've set and say they will help monitor them.
5. Parents smile when they arrive at the table and greet me with a firm handshake.
6. Parents and students have mobiles switched off or to silent so there are no disturbances.
7. Parents are on time for their appointments, if possible two minutes early just incase I'm running ahead of time.
8. Students have chatted to their parents in advance and so parents don't get any unexpected surprises.
9. Parents have found a babysitter for other children so I am not distracted from younger brother trying to wreck wall display whilst I am talking to parents.
10. Parents focus on the subject in hand rather than wandering off into obscure anacdotes about students past or talking about something else completely random.
