Becoming more of a proper Christian Woman (sort of)

Over the last few months I have found myself in a position to become much more of a proper Christian woman. Having previously been given only to the ministry of chairs (which I am in various ways reminded on a semi-regular basis is generally a Christian blokey activity) I have found myself drawn into the kitchen.

Now this is not entirely new I have entered such a place before, but generally only to wash up (again a more unisex activity), and not on anything like a regular basis. However, our emergent type event has given me the opportunity to indulge in a passion I have - drinks.

Now at this point you have to remember I am a good Baptist who doesn't drink alcohol on church property. But we are being given the opportunity to serve proper drinks (like hot chocolate - sometimes with extra calories) and smoothies in addition to the more traditional offerings of tea and coffee, (not in dodgy green or blue cups and saucers - rather pots and stuff with pretty mugs). I can do this, I am of the generation which came of age watching Friends and trying to find our own Central Perks.

Therefore, I have finally found a small opportunity to do proper womanly things in the church and serve in an "appropriate way", but it's doing the one womanly thing I understand. I have to say in some ways it's scary actually fitting into the gendered stereotype for once, but in other ways it's just so cool to feel like a "proper woman" for once.
