Powercuts and Power surges

Today I returned home from work an ickle early due to a prolonged powercut. No idea what caused a substantial section of plannett fannett to lose power, but hey...it gave me the chance to come home and work to the music of my choice. Upon logging on and reconnecting with late modern electronic civilisation (rather than having to pause and have real conversation with actual people) I found out that the party has its new leader, Nick Clegg.

I was somewhat surprised reading the result to find out that he only won by about 500 votes. Think that more than a split party the result reflects the fact that both candidates were pretty wishy washy and beyond the presentation there was little to tell between them.

Anyway I guess it's my duty as a good Lib Dem to smile and say I have every confidence in my leader and his spin machine. I look forward as he leads us into a bright future (or rather steers us in our drift to the middle right where there is little to distinguish us from Cameron's New Right realism and Brown's New Left realism).

All cynicism aside though I think any party leader these days is a brave man and they and their family should be applauded for being willing to take on that kind of role, (and prayed for as they seek to fulfil the role with integrity).
