I was going to avoid another snow related post, but... I got a circular type e-mail through from some people in the building today which warmed my heart about how the worst conditions bring out the best in people. Due to the nature of the e-mail I'm taking it ok to share it:
[People who sent the email] have ordered 12 shovels and they are due to be delivered tomorrow (assuming the weather is ok and the delivery van can come in). The college is also trying to send more grits up in the next couple of days.
I have checked the weather forecast and it is likely to be snowing heavily tomorrow. So if everythings are going as planned, I would like to propose a provisional time to start our 'group shovelling' on Saturday at noon. We can meet in the common room at 12noon and then delegate tasks.
Well, our community spirit is second to none as many have already helped each other pushing the car and cleared the path as much as we can with current limited resources. Many thanks to those who have volunteered to help. So far we have already got 14 volunteers but as not everyone would be free to help at the same time, it would be great if you are free on Saturday and come down to help. As the snow keeps falling now and then, it is not going to be a one-off shovelling and we will continue requiring your help if needed for the future.
In the meantime, there is a red shovel left under the stairs for you to use if needed. I am sure that anyone trying to get out/in would appreciate help of any passer by.
See you on Saturday at 12noon. Please bring along anything that you have that could be used to shovel the snow (such as dustpan & brush). Every little bit helps. ;-)
