Reflections on a month

Well, I've been here a month and tomorrow I officially enter the world of the university. In many ways it's been a different month than I'd been expecting so here are a few reflections.

1) The hills aren't as bad as I'd expected. However, the thought of walking up and down them when slippery does worry me.

2) I expected to be employed during this month, it hasn't happened and that's been scary. However, it has enabled me to do alot of "being mum" as Third Party has settled in which is good.

3) The church thing didn't go quite as expected. I knew it would be hard, but didn't expect "class" to raise it's head as an issue. Also Methodists hadn't really been on my list of likely denominations to end up in.

4) Living in a big block has been more challenging than I have expected. Last night we had somebody nearby hoovering at 2:50am, I'm not used to this anymore than I am used to having lots of ickle people in the area.

5) As Third Party has settled in quicker than me, I think, a main part of my identity appears to have become "being Third Party's mum", this is wierd.

6) The second hand shops here are excellent. Most up market ones I've come across, v. pleasing.

Anyway as I say tomorrow it starts for real and I guess there will be a whole new set of reflections to follow.
