Thinking about relationships

Last night we had our cafe style thing at church which was looking at relationships (actually it was primarily focusing on "couple type relationships"). During the evening a couple of the musicians who are incredibly talented were doing some stuff, primarily Martyn Joseph covers.

They had to fit in an extra song and so decided to play "This is Us", which they thought actually didn't have too much to do with relationships but was suitable when they had to fit in an extra song. Well, at this point a voice from the kitchen floats through the hatch saying, "It actually has loads to do with relationships, can I come and explain why". So after whipping her apron off the voice from the kitchen emerges and explains the following:

Those of us who are terminally single have to find other types of meaningful relationship in our lives, which we do through friendships, and being part of wider communities like church. On this basis the song which has the chorus, "this is us, we, you and I together we are whole" actually has loads to do with our type of relationships.

(No prizes for guessing who the shrinking wall flower was). Note I know these other types of relationship are very important to "coupled" people aswell, but they do have an added significance in the lives of the "terminally single".
