One was born into a family
Then was joined by two and three
Five were a family only for a couple of years
Four became extended when one left home and married
Two were newly weds going through ups and downs
Then two became three when the baby was born
Not so long afterwards three became two
When one fell in love with another one
Two were happy for a long time
Enjoying being part of extended and urban
And forgetting about the numbers involved
Then one found that one of the urban was special
When one found love two sort of became three
One changing from urban to sort of proper
Two found this a big change as
One and one had previously equalled two not three
The other one sometimes felt a bit torn
She knew that one plus one was two
And two was how it had been before
Two was also new and exciting though
She has to balance to make sure that
Two and Two can somehow equal three
Three are beginning to learn how be family
Slowly and surely
