Ok, so since Wednesday meeting people has stepped up a gear and suddenly Durham doesn't seem such an isolating place afterall. Rather, my neighbours, (on one side atleast), now have names and post-grad theology students seem to be making my acquaintence from all angles, along with various other interesting people.

Last night the halls I am in had a pot luck supper and I even did an ickle baking for it. If I had read Rosamundi's recipie an ickle earlier I may have used it, as it was I went for a plain simple apple crumble.

Crumble mix on top of a couple of brambleys which have been peeled, cored, and cut into slices and put into a shallowish dish with a bit of water and some sugar bunged over and then put in an oven for 35-40 mins at somewhere between 180 and 200 degrees (electric) works well for a quick and easy dish which gives the illusion of effort.
