What not to do on Mothers Day

I have to say I am hanging my head in shame this morning. Third Party had decided to be lovely and, for the first time ever, do Mothers Day properly. She spent all of her pocket money buying the ingredients to make me a lovely breakfast in bed.

The first course to be delivered was a bowl of fairtrade muesli, carefully chosen because she knows I like stuff to be fairtrade and because she knows I like muesli. What she didn't realise is I am actually v. fussy about muesli, liking basically only Just Right or plain Alpen. So there I was faced with a large bowl of cereal containing a number of dried ingrediants which were making my, v. slightly hungover, stomach churn. Now this is where a good mother would have simply smiled and said thank you and eaten the whole thing. I am afraid I couldn't (I did try but after a few mouthfuls I was feeling distinctly dodgy).

I was greatful that she gamefully continued with the endeavour though and then made me some gorgeous scrambled egg.

I guess what I am trying to say in this post is that whilst Third Party and I can never seem to get it quite right when we try to do "normal family stuff" she is a great kid and I am v. lucky to be her mum.
