Encouragement and answers

So, the wait continues; I do now know that Premier League uni (P.L.U) won't be putting my application for AHRC funding forward (if I manage to get given a place). Due to changes in the scheme less people can now apply and so P.L.U. are only putting people forward who have, throughout their academic career, shown the highest level of excellence rather than people who have shown general averageness until post-graduate level when they began to show just above averageness.

However, they haven't said no yet to offering me a place and within the e-mail, telling me the above news - (but slightly differently worded),- was a comment about not being too anxious and that I might wish to find out about all the other sources of funding that might be available. (Although it seems, looking around, that most of the other large sums also refer to academic excellence rather than sheer nerve and an ability for hard graft.) So as I say the wait continues; even if P.L.U. department decide to accept me that doesn't mean that the central P.L.U. post-graduate department will.

On a more positive note I had shown initial interest in an alternative qualification to the PhD, but with same P.L.U., when I was looking at my options and this week whilst the reply I have gotten is too late to impact my decision the comment within it was v. positive about the research I want to undertake.

Basically I have no idea what God is doing with this one. However, if I do get the place and you happen to know a liberal evangelical millionaire with a few thousand quid to donate you know where I am ;)
