A booklet of good advice

Yesterday an ickle booklet dropped through my door; it was the Care for the Family Top Tips for Single Parents. As the booklet says it is a booklet of "tried and tested top tips compiled for single parents for single parents".

It's an interesting ickle booklet of good ideas, common sense and modern philosophy and as with any booklet of this kind I have to say some of it is great advice and some of it makes me want to just pause and say um....very, very loudly.

I'm not going to focus on the negative though. Here are the 3 tips from the book which got me saying "oh yes" most loudly:
1. Pace yourself, and remember tomorrow is another day. The housework will always be with us, but rest and energy to enjoy your children is important.

2. Accept you are a single parent, even though it's hard. Don't be ashamed of your status. Be open about the limitations you have.

3. Don't make your children feel guilty for going to see the other parent; and don't criticise the other parent in front of your children.

As for the tip or comment not in the book I'd add:
Remember even if you didn't choose to become a lone parent you are not a victim you are a person who has a new adventure to go on now. Some of that adventure will be completely horrible but in the end it is what you choose to make it. Nightmares can turn into dreams :D
