A friend sent me the following quote from Dr. Seuss which I have taken up with enthusiasm:
"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind" - Dr. Seuss
Now, I have to acknowledge that I don't really believe the "those who mind don't matter" bit because of all the things I said in my recent post about the Spurgeon book (i.e. those we disagree with do matter). However, I realise that for years I have avoided being who I am and sometimes not said what's been important about what I feel because I've been too worried that those who mind matter.
I have dreams; I have hopes (and I might even have a calling). Whilst those who mind would probably suggest that at the moment I'm being like Don Quixote chasing the windmills there seem to be an awful lot of people who are encouraging me, who do matter. To those people who do matter thank you, your prayers and encouragement are proving invaluable at the moment.
