The Alpha Mummy Times blog column has this moving post by Single Parent Dad about preparing for Fathers Day.
I found two bits of it really useful:
1: "Our sixth wedding anniversary would have been on Sunday, the same day as Father’s Day, as it happens. But instead of ‘extra’ grieving, and finding the day ‘difficult’, if anything, it drives me to enjoy the day more, and be grateful for what I have today, as I might not have it tomorrow."
This seems a most excellent philosophy.
2: "I am not a ‘live-every-day-as-your-last’ proponent. After all, there are only so many times you can get naked and drunk at Alton Towers before you get bored or they throw you out."
There is a need for balance.
