Artex and coke

Sometimes I feel like I am living in a bizarre version of Back to the Future where I am transported back to various periods of time, whilst sharing the company of my 21st century companions. Alas I don't have a Delorian, just a trusty pair of battered Converse.

Last night I was introduced by some friends to a rather charming little college bar. The key to its charm was the decor...artex and beams. Add in the rather retro tables and seating, together with Coke at 50p a pint and it was wonderful. The whole scene took me back to a nightclub in Ipswich that I occassionally frequented in the late 80's called Cindy's. It was basically little more than a rather cozy shack at the back of a pub where they did the "indie" nights and if I remember from when I was a bit younger, some under 16's nights. Alas when a the church next door bought the site it came to light that Cindy's didn't have planning permission and so they pulled it down. Last night it lived again, atleast for one night, in my imagination.
