Doing some invidulation at the moment. Besides giving out paper or taking people to the toilet when people raise their hands most of the time it involves sitting in silence. I could take a book, but worry about (i) getting too engrossed and failing to notice when people put their hands up and (ii) making too much of a noise as I turn the pages. As a result I am spending considerable bouts of time at the moment just sitting and being in silence.....it's great being paid to have the time to pray.
Overheard yesterday at the bus stop: "I'm retired now...(show's young lad sitting next to bus pass)...I'm using it to travel to every Anglican Cathedral in the country. Just done Durham, on my way to Newcastle". I think the nationwide bus travel scheme for old people is brilliant if can allow people to just take off and do stuff like that.
