Worth the licence fee

For ages tv has truly not seemed worth watching. However, over the last few weeks I have begun to find worth in my licence fee again - well for two hours a week atleast. So here's my recommendations of what to look for, if you are elsewhere in the world, when it is exported.

Ashes to Ashes is back.

All the Small Things is a new drama. It took a while for me to get into it, but Third Party had and so as I happened to be working on the computer I couldn't escape it. I'm glad she did. Over the last few weeks I have found myself drawn away from work and into enjoying it. The basic plot is a church split between choir one who perform more traditional music and are under the domination of "the formidable woman", (you know the person who knows the proper way to do things and intimidates everybody else) and choir two who are the contemporary folk. The ones who get on with pushing the chuch forward whatever the traditionalists think. Throw in a seperat(ing)/(ed) couple conducting each choir and a few assorted combinations of brothers and sisters with issues between them, oh and the odd equality theme and you have the recipie for a wonderful drama, surprisingly. Again lots of laughs in this although also lots of tears. As Third Party and myself have observed and discussed though, it's key strength is it's unpredictability. They have thrown in some really unexpected twists..... this is evidence that good writing and good acting combined make something it is v. hard not to enjoy.
