Help I'm a Public Transport User Get Me Out of Here

It's very rare that I have the urge to learn to drive, but today has nearly got me to that stage. After 2 hours on the computer trying to plan 3 journeys I have come to the following conclusions:
1. I am not going to the Love Music Hate Racism, 30 years since Rock Against Racism carnival in London tomorrow. By the time I'd got myself sorted the local coach was full and the trains are completely up the spout - two and a half hours on a trian each way (minimum) plus tube at the other end would just be too much for a couple of hours in London, without a day to recover. Therefore, I won't be meeting up with my dad and am not a happy bunny.

2. If you don't drive and live in East Kent it is actually much easier to go to training events in London. Thinking Maidstone, (another part of Kent about 40 minutes away by road), would be the sensible one to choose from the exam board list was just stupid of me. Even without delays it will take me a three trains and a considerable amount of time.

3. Adventures which will have brilliant outcomes, (but which I can't really talk about due to their sensitive nature), are hard work to go on if they involve public transport over a period of major engineering works.

I think this is the first time I have really wished I wasn't a public transport user because it's just too much hassell. What hope is there for getting happy car drivers out of their cars with services (or a lack of them) like this?
