The current government are known to be a "listening" government who actively engage in public consultation. Personally I would question whether they actually listen or whether they arrive, hear sound, and then leave feeling smug that they've actually left London. Ok, sorry cynical head on there for a moment. I know they are people doing their best in a difficult job and alot of them are frustrated, well intentioned people.

Anyway... the Department for International Development has decided to get in on the act and go for a public consultation on how to eliminate world poverty. (Um, stops and scratches her head for a moment and thinks we might have turned out in our hundreds of thousands in the late 1990's and in 2005. Perhaps going to London, Cologne, Edinburgh, etc was just a dream).

Seriously though, the ministers concerned - probably "nice" people who couldn't make it into "hardcore" departments because they are "nice" - are going around 12 venues in the UK to consult.
