Preparing for the change

Today I began preparing for putting the Lent plan into action. Whilst I should be on a zero spending policy at the moment I have realised the benefit for the long term if I start investing, a small amount now. So it is I have splashed out on blue tack and the mixture of  essential oils I know really help both invigorate and relax, when I use them. That leaves a couple of postcards and some stamps to buy. The other costs involved will be  spread out accordingly, over the course of the six weeks. That is coffee, cinema, art gallery, etc will be carefully spread across the time.

I think this learning to look after myself a bit more, aswell as connect with the spiritual is part of something wider going on in my life at the moment. I am aware that within a few years Third Party will have flown the nest and I will have finished the study, (be that the M Litt or PhD in the end). Then it will be time for what ever comes next. For me that's a bit of a strange one, particularly as I will probably be going on that adventure, what ever it turns out to be, alone. That's why I have begun preparing to search for the will of God on whatever comes next.

The searching has taken the form of deciding to do an ickle course at church, which started last night. I don't intend going into detail about the course beyond saying it is giving me space to think about voccation and discipleship in the widest sense. For me this is a real novelty, something which actually I really value the opportunity to do. So much in my life has involved me deciding to pack up and go on an adventure when I have felt God's boot up my backside. This time, He has placed me in a space where I can actually take some time thinking through what the next stage of the journey might be and then planning for it. That's a nice feeling.
