February is LGBT History Month. It has an interesting tag line: claiming our history, celebrating our present and creating our future!

In light of this I'd like to share, at various points in the month, some stuff that I think are useful for anybody who is interested in this area - particularly in relation to how it relates to LGBT Christians.

First one is an ickle Grove Books pamphlet entitled A Gay-Straight Dialouge. It's only an ickle booklet but it's really good in explaining some of the stuff that goes on in the heads of LGBT Christians, like handling the idea you should be celibate and then putting it into practice and working out who to come out to. It takes the form of a conversation between two friends, both clergy who met at vicar factory; one is gay the other straight. It tells the story of how the gay guy came out to his friend and discusses some of the issues coming out of that.

The important thing with this book is that whilst it tells the story of a gay clergyman it isn't about gay priests it's a story in which his voccation is almost incidental to what he's talking about. Yes it does mean that the whole trust and consequences thing is heightened because it his career and calling which could be removed, but the contents are far more generally applicable.
