Clash of the real and virtual

I've spoken before about how virtual world and "real world" have in many ways now merged into being one world. However, in the past it has been the virtual world merging into the "real world" as I have got to know and meet people who I first encountered on line.

Recently though things have moved in the other direction. One of the people who is v. much part of my "real world" has started blogging on the Wibsite aswell as inhabiting various other virtual communities I also find myself in from time to time. It's something that I think is really positive and she'll benefit greatly from. Yet I also find it slightly unnerving, particularly when I find that the plan for my weekend has altered a degree through reading her blog.

I guess this is more and more how society is developing and that in many ways it will soon become difficult to distinguish who we met on line and who we met elsewhere. Our worlds will simply be our worlds, not distinguishable between "real" and "virtual" and our friends will simply be our friends, as we begin to share more networks.
