"In the war of circulation, it sells newspapers"

Ok, so Billy Bragg was referring to sex and soap operas in "It Says Here" and I'm talking religion as usual, (this being a bit of a God Blog), but the principal is the same - newspapers give what they think the reader wants.

On this basis one can only think that The Guardian has woken up to the fact that they have a market amongst the Christian community. Now I know that we've always been given face to faith on a Saturday but beyond that it's always been that the Guardian is not where one would automatically turn for balanced coverage on contemporary religion. However, I've noticed a change is taking place. This article by Stuart Jeffries on The Salvation Army is just one example. Another example is last weeks debate on "What Should Evangelicals Believe?", which after posing the question gave responses from John Richardson, Christina Rees, Justin Thacker and Graham Kings.

However, if you're not into theological debate picture this gives you the more "traditional" approach to selling newspapers, (but of course being the Guardian it's art).
