Adventure Update

Suddenly we have got to that point when things have started moving quite fast, although they're still very much up in the air & so I thought I would update people on where I currently am in the adventure.

Accomodation - confirmed from 1st October, if I do the course full time. (Note: we will have to be up there from the beginning of September so I am looking into practicalities of getting things sorted out on that one). If I end up doing the course part time then I am still v.much looking for accomodation.

Part time job - Interview the week after next for a job, doing my specialism, which would be ideal. 25 hours a week, September - May. Whilst a few more hours than I'd hope for I would see if I could do this and still be a full time student (on the logic I was working full time in a far more demanding job when doing part of my MA and the fact post May I'd try to find something doing 16 - 20 hours a week). See accomodation above as to the practical problems this may present though if I can't do both. Note: if interview unsuccessful then I will still be job hunting.

Fees: Currently I have enough to cover part-time study for my first year, but am not up to covering my first year full time. Although if I get the job referred to above and live in the accomodation referred to above I will hopefully be able to make up the short fall from my earnings / working tax credit. However, much of this will depend on the salary given if I get the job and what I end up getting from the tax credit people.

School for Third Party: When we go up for the interview Third Party and myself are looking around one school (and we may look around another if I get it sorted out). The LEA have told us the school is basically full but there should be a place in Third Party's year group. Where-ever she gets in there is also going to be the issue of hoping she can be fitted into the classes for the options she chooses.

Church: Getting familiar with a few names, not hooked up with anybody in person yet - although I understand some locals have been warned we are on our way.

In the meantime getting prepared for our mad trip the week after next where we should arrive about 2:40pm one day and leave about 4:00pm the next fitting in the interview, looking around accomodation, schools and hopefully getting to meet atleast one of my tutors - that bit I need to get sorted.

Oh and seeing as I have the bank holiday (but no half term, arrgghhh) I am going to start getting my current flat sorted and do a bit more of that clearing out what I don't want to take with me thing. Further to last time I referred to this it has been decided that the whole book collection is coming wtih me.
