Strange but true in tractorland

Don't know what they've been putting in the water for the marketing department @ Portman Road, but think that our current success (2nd in table before todays game with Leeds) has driven some people a bit strange.

The tractor boys are currently running a competition so that North Stand (the one all the hard cases who sing very loudly sit in) will be kind of renamed for the last part of the season (Jan - May) with the name of the compeition winner, with said name being on banners across top and bottom of stand. The rules do state that the club reserves the right not to use any names which may not be suitable. (So that rules out a number of popular names that would be used, they know the sense of humour we tractor folk have too well.)

A novel idea but I pity the poor person who wins. Footie crowds, particularly away supporters, can be very inventive and creatively cruel in the chants that emerge. On this basis not a competition I will be entering, although money raised is going to a good cause, floodlights for the training acadamey.

Also am finding the benefits of being part of the wibsite community are massive. Rambling Folkie has advised on her site that Cropredy is going to happen next year - result. Have decided (until the wind changes again) it's not all just a different sub-culture it is a massive information service.
