When life imitates art

Starting to put together the lesson for my students on Thursday. It's the one where I look at contempory forms of New Religious Movements & link this to current forms of believing (with or without belonging). In English it means it's the lesson where I use A Churchless Faith by Alan Jamieson (which happens to be a Sociology book aswell as a classic text as my starting point), before moving on through Gordon Lynch (After Religion and Losing my Religion) and then finally ending up talking about the work of Grace Davie who I heard @ Greenbelt this year.

So it's going to be one of those lessons given from a purely accademic view, sitting nicely on the fence whilst actually using stuff off my bookshelf and notes I made during the Davie seminar to talk about forms of believing I'm trying to get my head round in the real world. Mind you it makes the prep. more interesting than usual.
