Fear, scapegoats & stuff

Snuffles starting to go & brain starting to return (v.good).

Have only read soundbites on Queens Speech, but from what I gather the basic idea was anybody who is different is a threat and needs to be dealt with appropriately, and a climate of fear is being created (although we were promised that wasn't going to happen in the UK). Now don't get me wrong I'm not against law & order, or people being able to live in a society where people are free to live without fear, but I don't get how that is achieved by raising climates of fear & turning certain groups on to the defensive (which makes them more likely to take some kind of action) by scape goating them.

I think with this kind of climate being created what we need are creative solutions (not sure specifically what they are but I know there are initiatives in various parts of the country which are creative & are working by building co-operation rather than fear).

Sorry if this sounds like another politically correct wooly rant, but I really feel you don't create communities by encouraging people to feel they have to build bigger walls.
