Have just come across the following link (sorry I haven't got my mind sorted round doing it as a word yet, will investigate and learn as next task for becoming a decent blogger)
www.emergingchurch.info/stories/sanctus1/mindbodyandspirit.htm within the latest update on the emerging church site (see links).

I think it's interesting:
(i) because of the fact the group in question went into environments which some Christians view as dangerous, (believe me many moons ago in my home town I went to one of these type of fairs & had to pass a picket line of Christians, one of whom ran the local Christian bookshop, recognised me and gave me no end of hassell as I went in). Hopefully the fact Christians are now inside participating, but with integrity, is a good sign.

(ii) It talks of where Christians often use different language talking about the same/ similar things. I know this is something I encounter alot at work & during the summer when I investigate the stalls @ various festivals. People are talking about concepts that we as Christians talk about in churches; healing, words of knowledge, prophetic knowledge, etc but in terms of various types of alternative therapies, readings and so forth.

I know that there are issues about where the healing and knowledge may be coming from, and also psychocological issues and language comes into it aswell but at the end of the day I think alot of it is shared ground to work on. I'm increasingly aware that it is likely the future for engaging with others about our faith comes from a move from viewing Christianity in terms of the religious and more in terms of the spiritual. That said as we approach Christmas & having read through this post and the last one I am definately not advocating throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Rant over, tomorrow normal (boring irrelevant service) will probably be resumed.
