Ok, reading the bible is something I do because I know it's a healthy activity and gives me some structure & helps me learn some stuff. However I don't tend to think too hard about some stuff, because I know that some stuff theologians & the church can't agree on I'm never going to understand. Also I know there's some bits I just find really hard to apply to modern culture and so just tend to skim over, or say were relevant in their cultural context, but not now. However, thanks to Third Party I am having to think.
Thanks to the fact Third Party has been asked to do a reading at the school carol concert on Friday she has decided to explore the bible (having been allowed to choose the version she wanted to choose & having decided to ditch the Good News for the New King James Version). All of this means that I am suddenly faced with the contradiction of being dead pleased she's getting into the bible, but also having to field questions about the relevance of Leviticus & stuff.
