Confessions of a theme park snob

Yesterday with work I went to Thorpe Park (popular UK theme park) and whilst a pleasant enough day was had in the end I struggled with the place.

Despite what people think the problem isn't the fact that lots of things go high, go fast and spin around alot - all things I don't enjoy. No, what gets me more is the way these places look. You can't turn in any direction without seeing the products of one unethical mutli-national or another being advertised.

These places are all about consumption & the rather serious bit of my head finds the fact it is all so in your face difficult.

Now, don't get me wrong, I know that the rest of the world sees these places as pure fun & I'm not trying to stamp out the fun. I just wish the advertising around these places was an ickle less in your face and that they looked an ickle less tacky.

Oh, and for those who are interested I did go on one ride - the rapids.
