A trip to the north

This weekend I have been on an adventure to the north (west). 6 hours (ish) in either direction, and missing the rugby (although by all accounts I didn't miss much). Right that's the only two bad(ish) points out of the way although amazingly kids in car didn't argue and it was quite good to be able to just chat to my friend who was doing the driving - so even the negatives weren't totally negative.

Anyway positive points.
1) Went to a really good induction of (ex)minister and his wife into their new church
2) Saw a few people who I kind of knew, who weren't from our church, and it was good to catch up with them
3) Got to stay in a really lovely home and be fed well by person who volunteered to provide hospitality to myself, Third Party and a.n. other. - Also Third Party was so shattered she went to bed quite early so I got to indulge myself in sensible conversation with adults without having to be a stressed out parent at the same time
4) Saw proper northern landscape with hills, an industrial chimney and clouds (awakened the part of me which reads to much Bronte)
5) Got to go to a church with proper pews, really good banners and a mix of traditional and modern hymns/ songs (note: this is not knocking what I normally get, but it's just nice to go back to what I've been more used to sometimes)

As you can tell I had a really good weekend and kind of feel like I've had a mini-holiday although now I'm back I need sleep before getting back into the real world.
