Finally a good idea of what one set of emergents believe

Ok, when you're looking at what the emergent church is, isn't or maybe you quite often feel you're trying to describe a pink elephant that sometimes appears as a green monkey and is about as easy to nail as a jelly fish (what I mean is you just can't describe it and sometimes I wonder if it is emergent anyway or just another excuse to moan).

Anyway via Surf in The Park I have found the Third Statement of Faith which seems worth a read. Even if you disagree with parts of it (and I only had a slight problem with the wording of one point) it seems to sum up what it's all about.

So why do I think this find is important? Well basically it appears, rather than focusing on what they don't agree with fom the traditional set ups, they are focusing on the positive. Often we get ourselves tied up in knots about what we don't believe and who we don't agree with but this helps us focus on what we do and where we have common ground with those around us.

Amazing what you can find in between playing Trivial Pursuit with a broken board, penny sweets for counters and Third Party being the question master with a set of different coloured pencils to record when we'd won the cheeses.
