Little light in the darkness

Last night we had a powercut, no big deal. It only lasted about half an hour and wasn't too inconvienient.

However, during that half an hour I understood a little more about the value of humanity and what these days is a little counter cultural. I don't really know my neighbours (I definately come into the category of keeping myself to myself) anyway two of them popped by to check I was ok, one bearing candles incase I hadn't got any. In a day and age where trust seems to be rapidly disappearing I was seriously touched that strangers had thought and taken the trouble to knock on the door.

To top it all tonight the guy with the candles came back up to say his wife had reminded him when he came offering candles he should also have offered us a hand with anything else we needed. Whilst I am very much the independant woman it gave me a really fuzzy feeling to know that there are people around kinda looking out for us.
