A good read and a clear response

Today I have read Karen Armstrong's The Spiral Staircase, the follow up to Through The Narrow Gate which was part of my Christmas reading. Reading through I was struck by the recurring point that through the majority of religions it is right practice rather than right belief which is the key.

Also there is reference to the Golden Rule of a Jewish Pharisee Hillel, which Jesus may have drawn reference from which says, "Some pagans came to Hillel and told him that they would convert to his faith if he could recite the whole of Jewish teaching while he stood on one leg. So Hillel obligingly stoon on one leg like a stork and said:' Do not do unto others as you would not have done unto you. That is the Torah. The rest is commentary. Go and learn it."

I think this concept is vital today as we are faced with the latest reports on Christian Voice in The Times

For a truly Christian response, which is articulate and compassionate read Maggi Dawn
