Cultural differences can spin my head sometimes. Last night was one such occassion.
Local newspaper shop was selling Rolling Stone magazine, which was a novelty in itself. Not use to coming across imported music mags in there. Anyway due to fact it had Green Day on the front thought I would pay the ott price. Don't know much about exchange rates but pretty certain $3.95 is nowhere near £3.20.
Anyway I sat flicking through said magazine and decided that due to interesting article on media ownership aswell as Green Day article was worth the money, but probably not as a regular investment. When I got towards the back of the magazine I saw that US magazines have adverts the British don't. Not only do they still advertise cigerettes in magazines there was an advert for the TNIV (that's a bible). That was the point I went into head spin because it just seemed too wierd. I mean I cannot imagine finding anything similar in Q or NME.
Anyway it kinda made me see how we get so used to the similarities between cultures that when we come across the differences it seriously messes with our heads.
Also last night discovered Scuzz, a brilliant satillite music channel that was playing what used to be termed as thrash at a reasonable time of the evening. So all in all a night of cultural wierdness
