The world of the FE staffroom is a strange place at the best of times, in the twilight time which is that space after exams it tends to get an ickle wierder & so it was yesterday that we worked out how to explain social stratification through supermarkets.

One goes shopping at Waitrose to avoid the riff raff who shop at Sainsburys
One goes shopping at Sainsburys to avoid the riff raff who shop at Tescos
One goes shopping at Tescos to avoid the riff raff who shop at Asda
One goes shopping at Asda to avoid the riff raff who shop at Lidle
One goes shopping at Lidle to avoid the riff raff who shop at Netto

Me, I go shopping at Morrisons and so I'm not sure where that puts me in the food chain, I suspect it is somewhere between Sainsbrys and Asdas, but I'm not sure where. In an ideal, socialist utopia I guess we'd all be able to shop in local shops.
