BBC report on Lonely Planet Guide to Britain makes interesting reading.

Apparently the gap between north and south no longer exists in the way it previously did, which is actually no surprise. Liverpool, Manchester/ Salford, Gateshead / Newcastle and a few more have all gone overgone major rejuvination over the last few years.

Was a bit personally wounded, although I no longer live there, that Ipswich apparently now "barely register on the list of England's most important towns".

As the bloke from the council said, "If Tracey Emin's coming to Ip-art this summer, why can't Lonely Planet?"
He was making reference to the Ip-Art Festival taking place this summer.

Seems to me like Lonely Planet has just been linking the town to the its footballing fortunes.
