So the year is 2000 and it's off to Greenbelt clinging to a dream that increasingly looks like it may all fall apart.

Then in the middle of the festival I bumped into a friend who I'd shared a house with during my final year at college, many moons ago (when I was doing my first degree). I hadn't spoken to her for a couple of years and I'd not seen her since leaving college but here she was in the middle of the festival (which was no great surprise in itself - I mean these places kinda breed these meetings).

Anyway we did the usual "what are you up to now?" conversation. In the mist of this conversation it emerged that a former minister of hers was now @ a church in a town just outside where I had been accepted onto the PGCE, so she'd get me a phone number to phone and see if he knew of anywhere affordable / suitable to rent.

Well he didn't, but he said there was a very good letting agents he could recommend. So the next day I trotted down to said small town and the letting agents showed me a couple of places, one of which would be coming free v.soon. Well it seemed like an affordable solution so we filled in a set of forms and a couple of days later made the treck back down to get the deposit paid. Now all we had to do was get the references and stuff through in time - by this time it was the Friday after Greenbelt. On the Monday we got the phone call to confirm it was all sorted and so we could move down the next day.

Next snag, the school we had got sorted for Third Party was not a viable solution with where we'd now be travelling in from, as we'd be doing the whole thing on public transport. So I was on the phone to a school I'd looked round when I came to my interview, but had spent the summer saying they couldn't give me a place because I didn't have a local address. Now we had the address apparently it was ok they could give us a place there, that just left childcare. Well it turned out there was an afterschool club that picked up from the school that had now given us a place which was quite near college. It was all coming together.

So we moved on the Tuesday, going via the new school so we could pick up a sweatshirt for the next day. Then the next morning Third Party started her new school. That left me with a few days to get life sorted before I started college the following Monday.

Oh and there was the other issue we'd have to start that church hunting thing, but I'd start with the church my friends ex-minister was in charge of, not least because it was my preferred denomination. I went, I saw and you'll have to keep reading to see how long I stayed.

So "the plans" apparently were coming together, but why does it always come down to the last minute? Anyway now I was living in the right part of the country, it was time to get back to full time study and see if I really could hack it in the classroom or whether I'd have to head back across the country admitting failiure.............
