When is the right time?

There is an interesting post on Maggi Dawn's site about when is the right time to have children.

Her conclusion is by trying to put forward an "ideal" time, we are not living in the real world and it puts a whole load of un-needed garbage on people (my paraphrase). Ideally life should be tidy, but it isn't.

As somebody who did everything the wrong way I can really identify with this post. I did the "right" thing and got married (thinking I was on that road)very young. However, I soon realised that actually I did want to go to uni & so headed off there (with (ex) hubby). I got pregnant during my second year at college and had Third Party 6 weeks before I went back for my third year. This was not ideal, but with the support of a load of people we managed.

The fact this was not "ideal" was the reason that one of the g.p.'s I saw early on made it clear I did have a real choice (under the legistlation).

Perhaps if we moved away from the picture (& pressure) of the ideal - whilst still acknowledging there are situations where it is a little easier (and more appropriate),with a little support there would be more people making an (arguably) more positive choice. That said it is a difficult situation & I believe you can not reduce it to black and white (as is often the case).
