I've come over all denominational.

Normally, I am v. much of the ecumenical school of thought & actually think in many ways denominations are about as important as a soggy sock. However, I think they are useful in terms of helping us define our identity in some ways & deciding who we are (& the ways we like to do things).

Why is this so relevant today? Two reasons:
1) I've finally registered for " Baptist World Congress in Birmingham at the end of July. It's going to be an interesting experience that I'm really looking forward to, coming into contact with people from so many different cultures & sharing together in our common faith. (oh- and the fact I am going as an independant person, not a mum for the whole time).

Any other wibloggers going to be in Birmingham for it - let me know and maybe we can arrange a meet.

2) I'm getting myself sorted for Edinburgh (a week tomorrow - I'm getting quite excited). Have so far had details of where to meet up with the teaching unions (Muster Point C in The Meadows between 12pm and 1pm. The intention is to start marching at 1pm) and the Baptists (Supporters are encouraged to meet at the BMS and Baptist Unions' banner at 12.45 pm for the march, outside the Contemplation tent, so as to march at 1.00 pm. Later, at 7.10 pm within the tent, BUGB President Roy Searle will lead a 20-minute meditation with prayer and music from the Northumbria Community).

As I am taking a non-teaching friend & guess we would have more chance of bumping into people we know if we take that option I am going to suggest that we take the Baptist option. Mind you I think all this talk of marching is a tad funny, from my varied experience of these things they are more ambles than marches.
