Yesterday a group of us from work went to the horse racing and had some fun.
I'm hoping that the pattern of success with the ickle gambling I did will repeat itself with the bigger life gambles I'm taking at the moment. (note - don't worry I do not intend taking up betting as a way of sorting life, except for buying a lottery ticket.)
First four races nothing for most of us, and one of my friends was very dispondent having had her 66-1 shot beaten into second by a short head. However, towards the end things brightened up. Having both followed our feminist streak and chosen Granary Girl, simply because it had "Girl" in it's name, my friend who had lost so dramatically earlier and I both won on a 16-1 shot in the penultimate race (thus covering our enterance money and our steak). Press The Button, which it seemed everybody in our group had backed, in the final race saw us cover our food and drink aswell, and even have a couple of quid extra.
