As I'm not sure how much I'll be able to blog over the next few weeks I thought I'd start a series of occassional postings on people from the past who are interesting, but we may not have heard of.
No 1. Olaudah Equiano. He was a former slave in the 18th century who was influential in the fight against slavery, although he died well before abolition.
Refound via Tearfund who have produced a t-shirt giving the following quote from him:
"Can anyone be a Christian who asserts that one part of the human race were ordained to be in perpetual bondage to another?"
