More Little Britain than Little Britain

Sometimes I don't think that the fact much of the location filming for the first series of Little Britain was done here was anything but totally appropriate.

During festival season it becomes even more surreal than usual. Today it was summed up by the fact that Chiens D'Mer were playing folk rock to a seated audience of mainly pensioners in the bandstand. It's not often you see a group of OAPs from a local home enjoying a rendition of The Clash's I Fought The Law in French, with their afternoon tea, before being wheeled back to the nursing home in the interval. (I kid you not, I don't think even my imagination could make this one up).

However hard the front man tried in his broken English there was no way the crowd was going to dance, (well it was not that kind of venue and despite the presence of a few families and middle aged people enjoying a Friday afternoon by the sea, not that type of audience), although he did manage to get a bit of clapping during a more than passable rendition of Wild Rover (in English). Overall it was a v.enjoyable, but more than just a little wierd afternoon.

** Update** went and saw them again today (just down the front from where they were yesterday) but totally different audience from yesterday. Crowd even managed to get a bit enthuiastic.
