Now book burning extremists aren't people I naturally feel an connection with, however the story of Girolamo Savonarola does make interesting reading.
He was a prophetic, Italian radical who managed to get the spirit of the reformation, before the reformation. There is a bit of him that appeals, but also some that seems to make him quite repellent. Beginning to see that those come across as not always so good guys, but with a strong conviction are just as interesting as those who come across as definately ok.
By the way this one was found via Radical Christian Writings A Reader which contains a variety of interesting people and writings and is a v.interesting collection to use as a bit of coffee table reading
