It's the nanny state gone mad.
As a parent I wish to defend my childs right to have kak on the menu and to be able to buy fizzy drinks at school as part of her lunch, however Third Party tells me they don't have fizzy drinks at her school, so I am unable to defend it.
Just means I will have to stick to putting forward my case for the transport appeal tomorrow. Know I stand almost no chance of winning, but the principle is worth defending (i.e. you should not be descriminated against because (i) your understand your child is not of grammar ability in every subject, although they are in some and so they require to be at a school which fully caters for this level of academic ability and don't put them through the 11+, but look for a school which reflects their needs (ii) you happen to choose your religious denomination on the basis of doctrinal / religious issues rather than social convienience).
Scary part is I am going in basically blind as to how this thing works, having decided not to contact my county councillor to represent me and so am going to have to really be in proper grown up mode.
