Lessons to be learnt

This BBC article on the trial of police officers in Italy who are accused of lying, etc about evidence found relating to G8 protests in Genoa 4 years ago is worth a read.

Hopefully in our increasingly globalised world, where officials are sharing information on how to deal with anti-globalisation protestors, etc, etc (read trying to defeat NVDA, which effectively challenges the right of multi-national corporations to walk over people in whatever way they wish) they will share the lessons of this case. Just as there are, I believe, legitimate ways to protest (fluffy rather than spikey) there are legitimate ways to police these types of actions. Both sides need to recognise and play by the rules.
