The Voice has this article , which whilst attempting to link in ethnicity is basically one of the most encouraging articles I have read in along time, which tells it as it is.
Most of "us" are not simply stereotypical "lone parents" or "single mothers" we are people who live varied and enriching lives, which go beyond just being parents and who do have people around us who play a significant part in our childrens lives, (be that formal or urban family). However, labels are sometimes useful I guess. I mean not quite sure how you would reclassify us, "singleton parents with network & life"? Doesn't quite work, somehow.
