The Looking Back Bit

Well we're nearly through another one, so time for a bit of reminising, (except I've already done that in October when this thing reached it's first b'day).

On a personal level this year has been a year of change and moving on, and so somehow v. little is quite as it was at the beginning of the year, although much has actually remained as it was. It was really one of those years when you are reminded how fluid our lives are in terms of the people, places and roles, and how change is part of natural growth.

On a wider level I think 2005 has been a year of hope in the face of fear. There has been the hope shown by those rebuilding their lives in the most remarkable ways after the natural disasters of the last year; the hope shown by those across religious and ethnic divides who refused to give into terrorism, war (or scaremongering politicians), the hope shown by those who took part in the remarkable campaign to Make Poverty History (in what ever form that took), & the hope shown by people like the family of Anthony Walker in the face of racism.

So 2005, it's been a strange one all round. Hope you have a good 2006 and it's one where the hope continues to grow, but not the fear.
