Well, they're finally here. I have my ballot papers for the Lib Dem leadership election and the question is do I complete them now or wait?
Because "HQ" (i.e. Cowley Street) is not giving a list of e-mail addresses, etc to candidates there seems to be an awful lot of networking taking place because it seems not a day goes by at the moment without something coming through about one of the campaigns or other. Also thanks to somebody going to quite alot of trouble I arrived home to what amounted to virtual hustings yesterday (list of answers each of the three had given to questions they were asked at real hustings).
I have to admit I am glad about all this other e-mail activity because the election addresses in the pack I recieved seemed to amount to glossy soundbite nothingness,(which is a shame because I believe all 3 candidates are able, intelligent politicians).
I am almost unswerving for my support for my number one candidate, despite recent revelations - which I believe just illustrate the way this country crys out for honesty but then goes out of its way to make this almost impossible, (particularly as most of the coverage showed that whilst we can cope with the dualisms of gay and straight, the idea of bisexuality is still beyond what the media - and by extension society - can / does / will acknowledge). However, as they are using the single transferrable vote system the questions arise as to who to put numbers 2 and 3 by. Think this means that I will have to sit down next week (when and if I finally have some time) and actually examine where each of the others stand on the issues.
