For quite a while around the end of the month money always seems to evaporate. I have never been the most fiscally efficient people. I always thought it was strange. But I have tighten things up a bit since I got married and got a net banking account and have tighetened up my budget. Last week I knew how much was in my account and checked online that my car insurance was paid by direct deposit. I then went grocery shopping this week and not as much money as I thought should be in there was there. I went home and checked my net bank.
I will give some background now. In Jan of 2004 i bought a car and got it insured and was paying by direct debit. I moved by the time it the 12 months came around and never received any paper work. I went to the insurer and explained it and they said it would have expired and to sign me up again. It seems for 19 months I have been paying double insurance.
I called the company and had the ref numbers from net bank infront of me. After one of those painful computerised voices which asked dumb question I got through to a human very quickly. He was very helpful and asked a cute question. By any chance do you own 2 identical model cars? I said "no" he said "oh we have double insured you I just need to speak to the supervisor" He got back and said "it looks like we will be refunding you the total of 19 months of car insurance" I tried not to woohoo. He then asked for my new address and then informed me that my policy had changed price because of the move. It had gone down 10 bucks a month.
It was the best conversation I have ever had with a insurance company in my life.
Till Next Time Are You Double Insured,
