Eating Bathroom Cleaner and Nearly Crashing Down

It has been a little while since I updated. It is a funny thing when it's quiet it is a struggle to have stuff to put in the blog. The opposite is also true in a way. When it is busy I don't have the time to update. So basically it only gets updated when I want to. Before people freak if they read the messages I am left I do not eat household cleaner (JIF) but is a American brand of P.B. I have a jar that was sent to me from a very nice friend in the states. If I ever have needs she hooks me up.. Because of her I have stock of life saving chaffing avoidance powder. it is know in my group of friends as the breath of a thousand angels. Which is the feeling one gets when placing the powder on one's thighs.

The sporting team we host at times have finished their season and made the finals. Which did not impress some in the house of chops because on one night it was a dinner and then two days later it was a concert. But then the team made the finals and a sporting event had to squeeze in the middle. Not so bad but then you have to consider some things. Things such as the dinner still had people partying away at 1am! The sports floor and equipment had to be ready at 10am. But first they had to completely move the stage and all the stage fittings such as speakers and such. The tables and all of the things like chairs and cutlery and glassware and theming had to be removed. The internal wall had to be moved and the seats that were up in the roof also had to be placed on the ground. And then the special sporting floor had to be put together and it is a big jigsaw with the complicated sponsors graphics. The score bench and score boards and all the wiring had to be put in place as well. It was all done in time due to a Herculean effort from several departments that did it all over night. I however was asleep in my comfortable bed at this point. I got in at 12 and got all my niggly jobs out of the way. If I get that stuff out of the way I can then get onto the job of fighting fires. That started at 12.30 and interrupted the roll I was on and it took another 3 hours before I was finally set. Which I can get a roll on is done in a hour. The client arrived and was in a self admitted grumpy mood. Sometimes the comments they make is something that we haven't done or something that was passed onto the E.M which never made it's way to the floor. But at times it is a late request and they may know the difficulty of that too happen. I can actually here the change in tone in my clients voice she was very contrite. Needed to make changes on the scoreboard which is not easy to do when the room is fully set and the TV crew are starting to lay cable for the coverage. Hung out with the team manager for a little while which as always was cool. I scored the small gift he has been promising for most of the season. That made me quite happy. I made sure that a few departments made their last minute cleaning and checks. They assured me it was done. No worries I thought they know what they are doing. I was a little stressed at 6.20 for a 6.40 start that one of the bolts needed to secure everything was not tight and at the other end of the floor the bolt was not just loose but actually starting to raise out of the ground. If too much pressure was placed on that bolt everything would come a tumbling down. Which when the game is televised around the nation and the head of the competition is in the audience and the French general and his wife and some other vip type people were in the house is not cool people. They got the problem rectified and sorted at 6.39. Which gave us a whole minute to get our breath back before the start of the game. But as always out of the 4000 ppl in the room only six or seven ppl actually knew what was really going on. Once again emergency was diverted and the world is in harmony. Everything went pretty well. It was a very close and action packed game. It almost looked like we were heading to overtime. The client asked for a carton of beer to placed in the losing teams dressing room. She gave me about ten minutes warning. I called the F&B ppl and shift manager Disco answered. I said " Disco if we loose could I get a carton of your finest domestic beer placed in the dressing room." he replied" No worries Chops one carton of Mexican juice to the dressing room" For those of you outside of my homeland but Mexican jewels is not as nice as a more premium product like the a carton of jewels. Of course in keeping with this blog all names have been changed to save the innocent or me in this case. It took a little wrangling to get the nice beer in the rooms but it got there and went down ok I think. We have sadly come to the end of the season it has been a crazy roller coaster of fun. Before you know it they will be back and the season will start all over again but that is not for another 6 months away.

Till next time make sure your bolts are plenty tight,

Chops
